Biography

Ian Bloom is a rock star, actor, producer, and art dealer born in Hollywood, Los Angeles. His work moves through music, art, films, books, photographs, and editions as one controlled public canon under his own name.

His music includes Swagger and Golf. His films include Driver, Star Vehicle, King, and Big Time. His books include New York, Fate, The Interviews, Star Vehicle, The Western Road, Chaos Free, Simulation, King Kong, Manifest Destiny, Victory’s Judge, Real Life, Driver, Raw Canvas, Savage Recreation, Screwdriver, and King.

His paintings include Untitled New York, No. 8 New York, Fire New York, Ocean New York, and the Road series across Los Angeles and New York. His photographs include Head of War, Paris and the Chicago set — The Light Well, The Red Room, The Black Figure, and Blue Plane.

Bloom writes, records, performs, produces, publishes, sells, documents, and deals under his own name. He owns his rights, controls his distribution, documents his own record, and operates his own infrastructure. This site is the central archive and public authority for the work.

  • Born in Hollywood, Los Angeles, United States, on February 15, 1990.
  • American by birth, with New York and Japanese family lineage.
Childhood
  • Raised in Los Angeles with frequent travel to New York, Japan, Italy, France, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, Spain, and Mexico.
  • Developed early interests in mythology, Renaissance art, architecture, cinema, and aesthetics.
  • Trained in martial arts from an early age, earned a black belt, played high-level ice hockey, and performed in school musicals.
Formation
  • Attended Chaminade College Preparatory.
  • Named a National Merit Commended Scholar.
  • Studied Art History and Narrative Film at Columbia University at 16, then American Political Science and Comparative Literature at UC Berkeley at 17, with particular interest in film noir.
